Two Missouri clerks recently reported being contacted by the Trump Department of Justice, which is seeking access to the election machines they used in the 2020 election.
In recent weeks, the clerks say they were contacted by Andrew McCoy ‘Mac’ Warner, a Trump DOJ official.
According to NPR reporter Jason Hancock in Missouri, the two clerks were identified as Jasper County Clerk Charlie Davis and McDonald County Clerk Jessica Cole.
Jasper County is a rural county in southwestern Missouri, bordering Kansas. Its largest city is Joplin, and the county seat is Carthage. This is a heavily Republican area—Trump carried it 72% to 26% over Joe Biden in 2020.
McDonald County is located in the southwest corner of Missouri. Its county seat is Pineville, and the rural county voted overwhelmingly for Trump, 82.3% to 15.9% over Joe Biden in 2020.
President Trump carried the former bellwether state by 15.4 percentage points in 2020—it was way too big to steal.
The Trump DOJ reportedly wants access to the voting machines in these two counties to inspect them and possibly take them into custody.
Charlie Davis told NPR reporter Jason Hancock that Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft also contacted him about the machines.
Davis said he replaced the machines after the 2020 election.
