The trial of ex-President Donald Trump over hush money payments is scheduled to begin hearing opening statements on Monday in Manhattan, following the selection of a full jury comprising 12 jurors and six alternates last Friday.
The night before, Trump went on social media, sharing a post on Truth Social:
Four years ago I was a very successful and popular President of the United States and, in November, went into an Election where I received more votes, by far, than any sitting President in the history of our Country. Unfortunately, the Election was Rigged and Stolen, and our once great Country has quickly become a Nation In Serious Decline.
Tomorrow morning I report to a New York Criminal Court for a Trial on, somewhat ironically, ELECTION INTERFERENCE, ruled over by Crooked Joe Biden’s DOJ, before a Corrupt and Highly Conflicted Judge, a failed Soros funded District Attorney who didn’t want to bring this case, which could have been brought eight years ago, but wasn’t, in an almost completely Democrat District.
Virtually every Legal Scholar and Expert says that there is NO CASE, NO CRIME, NO NOTHING! IT IS A SHAM THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN BROUGHT, EXCEPT TO TRY AND DAMAGE BIDEN’S POLITICAL OPPONENT, ME. SEE YOU TOMORROW MORNING!
He later added:
The Corrupt Soros Funded District Attorney, Alvin Bragg, who has totally lost control of Violent Crime in New York, says that the payment of money to a lawyer, for legal services rendered, should not be referred to in a Ledger as LEGAL EXPENSE.

Democrat Alvin Bragg, the District Attorney for Manhattan, has accused Trump of 34 felony charges, alleging that he falsified business records in an effort to conceal a $130,000 hush money payment made by his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, to adult film star Stormy Daniels just before the 2016 election.
Bragg asserts that Trump’s classifying of the payment as a legal fee was an effort to obscure violations of campaign laws, elevating it to a felony rather than a lesser offense that might result in a mere fine. The jury, consisting of seven men and five women, will decide whether that is a convincing argument.
The jurors and alternates were chosen following a week-long procedure during which they were interviewed about any potential biases and their ability to remain fair and impartial, even considering the significant publicity surrounding the case. This is particularly relevant given the proximity of the 2024 presidential election, where Trump is currently leading in key swing states.
Outside the courtroom, the trial has assumed a circus-like atmosphere.
On Friday, a man who accused both Trump and President Joe Biden of being fascists set himself on fire. He passed away over the weekend.
Reports indicate that David Pecker, a close associate of Trump’s and former publisher of The National Enquirer, is anticipated to be the initial witness to take the stand.
Pecker reportedly played a role in arranging the hush-money agreement with Daniels and will face questioning regarding purported conversations he had with Trump.
