Senior Policy Advisor Linked to Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton Arrested for Child Sex Offenses

A former senior policy advisor under President Barack Obama’s administration is currently under scrutiny for potential criminal charges related to offenses involving children, which could lead to jail time.

On Sunday, The Daily Mail reported that Rahamim Shy, aged 46, was arrested by British law enforcement in Bedfordshire in late February. Court papers accessed by the Mail indicate that Shy stands accused of arranging the commission of a child sex offense.

Shy is additionally facing charges for possessing two category C indecent images of children and possessing a prohibited image of a child.

The Mail stated that he appeared via video at Luton Crown Court on Friday, wearing a gray prison-issued tracksuit.

Shy, a resident of New Jersey and an American citizen, served in the White House during the administrations of President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. During his tenure, he played a key role in overseeing the U.S. government’s efforts to counter Islamist terrorist groups like Al Qaeda and the Taliban.

He held a senior position at the US Treasury Department from 2008 to 2014, where he provided guidance to officials on combating terrorism financing and supported foreign governments in implementing sanctions against hostile regimes. This likely facilitated his interaction with Clinton, given that the State Department oversees the imposition of sanctions on foreign countries.

The Mail also reported that he offered strategic policy analysis to chiefs of staff at the Department of Defense (DOD).

In his capacity with the DOD, he traveled to Afghanistan to offer “expertise” to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), a NATO-led coalition tasked with upholding stability in the aftermath of America’s invasion over twenty years ago.

Following his departure from the White House, Shy took up roles at Citi Bank, where, according to his now-deleted LinkedIn page, he held several top executive positions. A spokesperson at the bank informed the Daily Mail that Shy is no longer employed there.

According to The Mail, Shy has not yet entered a plea and is presently in police custody awaiting a hearing scheduled for June. His trial is set to begin in August.
