Pop star John Legend, set to perform at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this week, says his eight-year-old daughter “can’t imagine why anyone would vote for Donald Trump.”
John Legend discussed his eldest daughter, Luna, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on Monday.
“[Luna] is so excited to see someone who’s black and Asian like she is, [and] a woman like she is — so she’s looking at [Kamala] like ‘this is me’ up there,” he told the outlet.
“For her to see that, of course, is really inspiring, and she’s excited, and she can’t imagine why anyone would vote for Donald Trump, but that’s another issue,” he added.
Legend is set to perform at a private event during the Democratic National Convention this week, according to reports.
A longtime supporter of Democratic candidates, the singer endorsed Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden in the most recent presidential elections, actively campaigning for both.
He also performed in a primetime inauguration special in 2021 to celebrate Biden’s inauguration as President.
John Legend and his wife, Chrissy Teigen, have consistently voiced their opposition to former President Donald Trump, making it a central feature of their public personas.
Chrissy Teigen recently expressed fears that Trump might “come after” her if he returns to the White House in November. She claims he still holds a grudge against her for calling him a “pu**y a*s b*tch” on social media several years ago.
