American Actor Neal McDonough Reveals Disturbing Facts About Hollywood: ‘They Blacklisted Me for Being a Christian’

Actor Neal McDonough revealed that he got blacklisted in Hollywood for a solid two years due to his strong religious values. One aspect of these values was his decision to turn down a love scene with a fellow actress as a mark of respect for his wife.

Neal McDonough, a Catholic, spilled the beans in a video that popped up on Tuesday. In it, he described the story of getting fired and canceled.

“They said you have to do it or we’re going to fire you,” McDonough said.

“And I’m like, ‘I’m not gonna do it.’ So they fired me,” he revealed.

“I was blackballed for two years. I couldn’t get a job,” McDonough added.

“They thought I was some religious zealot. But to me, it was just that I didn’t think it was the right thing to do. And also, I really love my wife. And as I’ve said, and I’ll say it a million time, these lips are meant for one woman,” he concluded.

In the video clip, McDonough doesn’t specifically name the project where he was fired. However, it seems like he’s referencing to the ABC series Scoundrels, where he got fired in 2010 for refusing to shoot romantic scenes with an actress.

McDonough married former model Ruve Robertson in 2003, and the couple has five children.

The actor has opened up several times about getting the boot and how he bounced back by diving into faith-based projects. He’s taken on supporting roles in the popular Paramount Network series Yellowstone and FX’s American Horror Story: Double Feature.

McDonough hit the big time with his standout performance in HBO’s Band of Brothers. Following that success, he landed roles in Steven Spielberg’s Minority Report and Clint Eastwood’s Flags of Our Fathers.
