FBI Director Kash Patel and the DOJ announced on Monday that FBI Albuquerque and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) Phoenix arrested Jamison Wagner in connection with arson attacks on a Tesla facility and the New Mexico GOP headquarters.
“This investigation concerns two separate arson offenses: one on February 9, 2025, at the Tesla Albuquerque Showroom in Bernalillo, New Mexico (Santa Ana Pueblo, Sandoval County), and a second offense on March 30, 2025, at the Republican Party of New Mexico Party Office in Albuquerque, New Mexico (Bernalillo County). Based on the facts outlined below, there is probable cause to believe WAGNER committed these offenses,” the complaint states.
Several Teslas were also destroyed and graffiti that read “Die Elon,” “Tesla Nazi Inc,” and “Die Tesla Nazi” was spray painted on the property.
In his attack on the Republican Party headquarters in Albuquerque, the front door and lobby area were damaged before firefighters arrived to extinguish the blaze. The individual also spray painted “ICE=KKK” on the building.
As reported, Attorneys General Pam Bondi announced during a cabinet meeting last week that this individual would be arrested and face “at least 20 years in prison with no negotiations.”
Patel announced the arrest on X:
BREAKING: I can now report that on Saturday morning, our @FBIAlbuquerque team and the @ATFPhoenix arrested an individual who we believe to be responsible for the February arson attack on a New Mexico Tesla facility.
The evidence in this case stemmed from our ongoing investigation of the March arson attack on the New Mexico Republican Party HQ.
Evidence recovered at the scene strongly suggests that this weekend, our brave agents prevented further planned arson attacks.
Amazing work from our teams, ATF colleagues, and regional law enforcement partners executing the mission. Under @AGPamBondi’s leadership, this is part of our FBI mandate to locate those responsible for the domestic terrorist attacks on Tesla and promptly bring them to justice.
Full press release from the District of New Mexico United States Attorney Office:
ALBUQUERQUE – Federal charges have been filed against Jamison Wagner, an Albuquerque resident, in connection with recent arson attacks targeting the Tesla Albuquerque Showroom and the Republican Party of New Mexico (RPNM) headquarters. Investigators linked Wagner to both incidents through surveillance footage and scene evidence.
“Let this be the final lesson to those taking part in this ongoing wave of political violence,” said Attorney General Pamela Bondi. “We will arrest you, we will prosecute you, and we will not negotiate. Crimes have consequences.”
“Hurling firebombs is not political protest,” said Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche. “It is a dangerous felony that we will prosecute to the maximum extent. The impressive work by law enforcement in New Mexico sends a clear message to perpetrators of all of the shameful attacks on Tesla facilities and political establishments: we are coming for you, you can’t hide, and you will do serious jail time to pay for your crimes.”
According to court documents, in the early morning hours of February 9, 2025, the Tesla Albuquerque Showroom was targeted in an arson attack. Two Tesla vehicles were involved in the fire, one of which was significantly damaged.
An intact glass container containing an improvised napalm material was found in the second vehicle. Investigators noted a hand-written capital “I” or “H” letter on the top of the green metal lid.
