According to a report, the Pentagon is about to make an announcement regarding a military aid package for Ukraine, which is valued at over $2 billion.
The new package would come about a week after the Pentagon announced a $300 million package for Ukraine on May 31.
Bloomberg News reported Friday morning that the Pentagon could announce as early as Friday that the package would include air defense munitions.
As per reports, it is said that the package will be under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, which finances the new purchases of weapons, rather than relying on presidential drawdown authority, which has been utilized to approve the transfer of U.S. military equipment to Ukraine.
As reported, the package is set to financially support the procurement of Hawk missile launchers, missiles, and two types of advanced Patriot air defense missiles.
The Pentagon just announced a 300$ million aid package about a week ago, on May 31.
So far, the Biden administration has committed more than $38.3 billion in military assistance to Ukraine, including $37.6 billion since the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
