BREAKING: DOJ Prepares to Drop Bribery Charges Against NYC Mayor Eric Adams

On Monday, the Trump Justice Department moved to dismiss federal charges against New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

“You are directed to dismiss the case against Adams,” Emil Bove, Trump’s Acting Deputy Attorney General wrote in a letter to the US Attorney’s Office in Manhattan, according to The New York Times.

Adams was recently indicted by the Southern District of New York on charges of wire fraud, bribery, and conspiracy, making him the first sitting New York City mayor to face criminal prosecution.

The charges include conspiracy, wire fraud, bribery, and soliciting a contribution from a foreign national. Here’s the indictment.

Federal prosecutors allege that Adams accepted $10 million in illegal “straw” campaign contributions and bribes from foreign countriesโ€”including Turkey, Israel, China, Qatar, South Korea, and Uzbekistanโ€”over nearly a decade.

“For nearly a decade, Adams sought and accepted improper valuable benefits, such as luxury international travel, including from wealthy foreign businesspeople and at least one Turkish government official seeking to gain influence over him,” the indictment reads.

“As Adams’s prominence and power grew, his foreign-national benefactors sought to cash in on their corrupt relationships with him, particularly when, in 2021, it became clear that Adams would become New York City’s mayor,” the filing said, according to The New York Post. “Adams agreed, providing favorable treatment in exchange for the illicit benefits he received.”

Federal agents raided Gracie Mansion, the official residence of New York City Mayor Eric Adams, last November while executing a search warrant tied to his public corruption indictment.

The Biden administration went after Eric Adams after he dared to speak out, warning that illegal aliens are destroying New York City.
