BREAKING UPDATE: Trump’s Legal Team Holds Meeting With Justice Department Officials Over Classified Documents Case, “Charging Decision Imminent”

On Monday, President Trump’s attorneys met with officials from the Department of Justice regarding the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case, a couple of weeks after requesting a meeting, as reported by The Washington Post.

The grand jury, which is reviewing evidence in Special Counsel Jack Smith’s case against Trump regarding the classified documents stored at Mar-a-Lago, will gather this week following a period of inactivity, as leaked to NBC News.

Jack Smith has been investigating Trump for storing presidential records at Mar-a-Lago and whether the former president attempted to obstruct the investigation.

As reported by CBS News, the decision on whether to bring federal charges against Trump is imminent.

As reported by The Washington Post:

Attorneys for Donald Trump came to the Justice Department Monday morning to make their case that the government should not charge the former president in connection with his possession of classified documents after leaving office, a person familiar with the situation said.

Among the lawyers at the meeting were John Rowley and James Trusty, according to multiple people familiar with the situation, all of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss it.
