Israel’s foreign minister, Eli Cohen, presented a recording at the UN Security Council on Tuesday. The recording captured a phone call made by a member of Hamas on October 7. During the call, the individual used a stolen mobile phone belonging to a dead Jewish woman to boast about their involvement in an attack in which they claimed to have killed ten Jews.
The phone call, initially disclosed to global reporters by the Israeli military on Monday, was documented through an application installed on the woman’s phone. This call occurred while the terrorist was carrying out the attack at Mefalsim, a kibbutz located near the Gaza Strip.
“Dad, I’m talking to you from a Jewish woman’s phone. I killed her and I killed her husband. I killed ten with my own hands!” the terrorist exclaims, telling his parents he is in “Palestine.”
At first, his father is proud. “Allahu Akbar!” (“God Is the Greatest!”) he cries.
His son instructs him to check WhatsApp for images of his gruesome act. In the background, a woman’s voice can be heard in distress, presumably one of the victims at the kibbutz.
“Their blood is on their hands!” the terrorist continues. “Put Mom on.”
His mother is silent for a moment, then replies, “May God bring you home safely.” She realizes he is likely to be killed.
Then additional family members get on the phone and urge him to return to Gaza.
“What do you mean come back? There is no going back — it’s either death or victory. My mother gave birth to me for the religion.” He urges his family, again, to check their WhatsApp messages to see what he has done.

Israel has criticized the UN for failing to condemn the Hamas terror attack unequivocally.
On Monday, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres appeared to justify Hamas atrocities by claiming they were a response to “occupation,” sparking outrage from the Israeli delegation. “His comments… constitute a justification for terrorism and murder,” said Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan.
