A tragic mass shooting took place in Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday, which is being described as a racially motivated attack.
Unverified reports state that four people were fatally shot and two others injured on Saturday, shortly before 1 PM, along Kings Road in Northwest Jacksonville.
The number of casualties might increase as additional details are uncovered.
According to News4Jax, a witness said the suspected shooter allegedly fired at cars outside the store before going inside.
Emergency services, including a SWAT team, rushed to the scene. The suspect reportedly barricaded himself inside and exchanged gunfire with the police.
A member of the Jacksonville City Council has confirmed that the shooter is now deceased.
Sheriff T.K Waters told reporters Saturday evening, “This is a dark day in Jacksonville’s history. There is no place for hate in this community.”
He confirmed that the shooter killed three black people before committing suicide.
“This shooting was racially motivated, he hated black people…he wanted to kill n*s,” Waters added.
