Teen pop sensation Billie Eilish expressed her concerns that President Donald Trump might secure a second term in 2024, attributing it to the fact that so many Americans “just love horrible people.”
During her interview, the singer said her plans to thoroughly research for the upcoming election next year. It marks her first opportunity to cast a vote.
“I’m going to do all my research, I don’t know what the right thing is, but I think it’s so funny when a lot of adults think that they know what’s right,” Eilish stated.
“I’m pretty worried about [2024],” she said.
“I think stupid Trump is probably going to get reelected, and that makes my heart break. You know, some people just love horrible people. It’s weird,” Eilish later added.
Despite her pessimism, the singer intends to contribute to the anti-Trump movement by setting up voter registration and eco-activism booths in her upcoming concerts. She’s counting on her fans to largely rally behind her anti-Trump stance.
Pop icon Ariana Grande, who backed left-leaning Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders in 2020 initiated a similar project. Grande revealed that she successfully registered 20,000 young voters during her live performances.
Eilish remains an outspoken environmental activist. At the American Music Awards, the singer wore a black shirt featuring the words “No Music On a Dead Planet” in red flames emblazoned beneath, suggesting she thinks the world is on the edge of destruction as a result of climate change.
