New and bizarre details are still coming to light about the person accused of taking a security key fob and keys from the Maricopa County Tabulation and Election Center (MCTEC), which are raising eyebrows ahead of the July 30 local Primary Elections in Arizona.
This includes another alleged theft from Arizona Senate staff, according to Arizona Senate Republicans.
“I’m sure there’s a simple explanation for this,” political advisor Caroline Wren said.
“Walter Ringfield Jr is probably just an avid collector of election & government related artifacts & was just borrowing these items from Maricopa County Elections & the AZ Senate in order to display them for his at home collection,” she added.
As reported earlier, a temporary election worker is accused of stealing a security fob and keys from MCTEC. Recent findings reveal he was also a registered Democrat and a potential 2024 Senate candidate until last year.
He faced charges for allegedly stealing $1,000 from a Fry’s grocery store in the Valley, though these were dropped after he entered a diversion program, suggesting a possible plea deal. Questions remain about how he passed the background check to work in the elections department.
Interestingly, according to Arizona media sources critical of Ringfield, he maintains a Truth Social account that contradicts his Democratic affiliation and suggests right-leaning views, as noted by Garrett Archer, a critic on the left.
Despite this, Ringfield was registered as a Democrat in 2020 and 2022 but is currently unaffiliated with any party. His Truth Social profile features a photo of him with former Democratic congressional candidate Jevin Hodge, liberal Tempe Councilwoman Bedetta Hodge, and CNN analyst Bakari Sellers, apparently at a campaign gathering.
Election workers are currently reprogramming the tabulators and conducting Logic and Accuracy Testing anew. This process became contentious after the 2022 election, when tabulators were deliberately set to malfunction on election day.
