President Trump could soon receive substantial help from the world’s second wealthiest individual.
As reported by The New York Times, the 45th President held a secret meeting with Elon Musk on Sunday at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida. Joining Trump at his residence were also several affluent GOP donors.
The meeting takes place as Trump seeks additional funds to rival the record-breaking fundraising from Joe Biden’s campaign. The Times highlights Musk’s potential to single-handedly neutralize Biden’s substantial financial edge.
Currently, it remains unknown whether Musk has pledged financial support to Trump’s campaign. Initially, one might assume that a significant investment from Musk would be unlikely, given his past overwhelming support for Democratic candidates.
The Times also highlights past conflicts between Musk and Trump. For example, in the summer of 2022, Musk suggested it was time for Trump to “sail into the sunset,” prompting a colorful response from the 45th President.
However, there are reasons that the founder of Tesla might choose to endorse the prominent MAGA figure this time around, starting with immigration.
For weeks, Musk has been warning about the Biden administration’s betrayal of America regarding border issues.
He escalated the rhetoric on Tuesday when he warned that “the groundwork is being laid for something far worse than 9/11.”
According to The Times, if Musk chooses to endorse Trump, the topic of illegal immigration will be the main motivator.
The Biden administration has also initiated multiple baseless investigations against Musk, with the apparent goal of weakening his business empire and possibly even reversing his acquisition of X/Twitter.
Musk has also emerged as a vocal opponent of the woke agenda in America. Recognizing the ongoing culture war in our nation, he has boldly aligned himself with conservatives in this battle.
The owner of Twitter has both personal and policy-driven motives for aiming to remove Joe Biden from office. If Musk fully backs Trump financially, it’s likely to provoke strong reactions from Democratic and liberal media leaders.
