Over the weekend, nearly 20 individuals were shot in Chicago under the leadership of Mayor Brandon Johnson (D).
ABC 7 reported that by 9:01 p.m. on Sunday night, at least 18 people had been shot over the weekend.
CBS News reported that a 16-year-old girl was one of the victims of the shootings.
The 16-year-old was in a home “in the 7200 block of South Honore Street” when a white sedan pulled up, and someone from inside the car started shooting shortly after 9:00 p.m.
One bullet shattered a window and hit the girl, causing non-life-threatening injuries.
Shortly afterward, a 25-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were shot while sitting in a parked car. A white sedan pulled up nearby, and someone started shooting. Both individuals are in good condition.
It was also reported that last weekend in Johnson’s Chicago, at least 27 people were shot. Unfortunately, five of those shooting victims did not survive.
A database maintained by the Chicago Sun-Times reveals that 420 individuals lost their lives in Chicago between January 1, 2023, and September 17, 2023.
